The meaning of this homepage

This little site is about my interest for old obsolete electronics and the combination electronics - mecanics. Together with my musical interest, I have been a guitarplayer in a couple of bands, it becomes a mix which I believe fits more of you readers .

My hobby has taken a breakneck speed lately. Radios and tape recorders have tumbled down on me and some of them I have bought cheaply on fleamarkets and auctions. Under the header news I will put up some of my new acquisitions and write about the latest projects and modifications.

The meaning from now on is that I will would like some more contact with you, to change tubes/valves, parts and experience with. Both equipment for orchestra and different modifications or some of the more common home electronics and HiFi is of interest.

Some of my units have there own pages and some share a link tohether at the left menu. I will try to put in useful links to other DIY:ers and sites embedded in the context when I write about my apparatus or projects. I'm very pleased to hear some comments about my pages and also about your own projects and experiences.

How it began

I have always been charmed of old homelectronics. As a child I soldered off components from broken radios and collected them in small ashes, sorted after looking. Later on it become more of the electronics with "free choice of work" in school.
A cousin of mine I went along with also had music and electronics interest. We went to Josty Kit in Gothenburg and bought components as candy to our electronic projects. One of the first projects was to buy a hangonmicrophone to my mothers acoustic guitar, build the fuzzbox-building kit GU15 from Josty Kit and connect the hole to the familys stereo equipment. What a sound !!
I came in contact with tubetechnology when I did a renovation to grandma's old tuberadio to be used as a guitaramp. Later on, when I did my upper secondary school (senior high school AE), I built my own all tube 5 watt class A, guitaramplifier.
All electronicprojects didn't succeed but I can see now that everything alltogether helps me today when I build and repair things. Well, it's common called experience. Someone said that "you can only get experience if you have good memory". That is true offcourse. I have given it some more thoughts and think there is some more intuitive in it which is hard to point at, but the more you keep going with a thing all the better you unconsciously know if you are on the right or wrong path. An unconscious memory ? Well ! I don't want be to much academic, we'll go on to the next paragraph.

My workshop

Uppermost on this page you see my workbench. The benchs where my son and I do our pottering is done of old doors where one side is mounted to the wall. Then I have done the carpentry in the middle, two kind of sawhorses. All in all about 4 metre benchlength. Below you can see one of the shortwalls. This kind of rooms is often called banquet cottage (free translation) in Sweden. But it has never been used in a better way, don't you think ?

Orchestra equipment

Below is another corner of this hobby room. There are all musical instruments and amplifiers gathered.

I hope you will enjoy the visit. Take a look around and feel free to give me comments.
