Serial Pro programmer with
Oshonsoft firmware

OshonSoft's free projects

If you buy the OshonSofts PIC Simulator IDE with it's basic compiler you can compile the sourcecodes on the projects pages and build your own PIC-projects. I have bought the simulator including addon for structured basic. It's cheap software but very high quality and very helpful. It's affordable for an hobbyist yet very powerful for anyone. I havent found any better software simulator for PIC'S so far, no matter how high the prizetag is. It's free to try out.

On the picture above you see my version done with Eagle cad. The original schematic and sourcecode is on Oshonsofts site but the rewritten Eagle project you can download from me, free of charge. Look on the bottom of this page for downloading the parts list the *.sch and *.brd files zipped.

The board made in Eagle

The board is a singelside design with some jumpers at the component side. Easy to etch for a hobby amateuer. There is one switch for use with the 28/40 pin type or the 8/14/18/20 pin versions, to switch MCLR 13.2V to the right pin on the respective PIC's. There is an optional 10k pulldown resistor for the LVP programming and a socket for ICSP programming. It also have optional pads to solder "testeyes" near this socket.

Download this project

Download all of this including my homemade library. The library needs some more to it but is my first attempts :-) and it works with this project. I made it because the pads for most components is way to small in Eagles default librarys. This is the latest version with updated silkscreen information around the S1 switch.

Do what you want with this project as long as you not earning money on it. It's Oshonsofts firmware (which you have to compile with a bought version of the PIC simulator IDE ) and the board PCB design is mine and I give that away for free, as an enthusiastic DIY hobby work.

Sparecards for sale

I etched two cards before I used the "pour" or "fill" option in Eagle. These two cards work i exactly the same as the board above but all copper is etched away where it's not needed. In the latest version the copper is left around the wires with some distance. This is a common way to do, to not use up your etching powder to fast :-).They has the first version of silkscreen glued on.

Anyway they are for sale for 10$ each unborred. If you want the new silkscreen you can print it out on some new addesive film from the downloaded project or you can change it to your flavour. You are free to do so.

Please tell me if you actually built this one.
